Day 20. National Blog Posting Month.
Costco.
Ever go to Costco, or a store like it, planning on getting a few items, only to leave the store with a pile of shit that you didn’t really need?
No?
You lie!
Husband and I went to Costco this morning for some essentials – dish soap, laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper. It’s always so dangerous walking into that store. They lure you in with those giant television screens – husband was thrilled to see an 80″ flat screen. Jesus! 80″!!
“Keep walking,” I said.
And in the same breath, “Ooh, microwaves!”
The microwave we have I have owned since 1997, at least. My parents bought it for me when I moved out. It still works, but it takes extraordinarily long to warm something up. Any other microwave will warm up milk in about 30 seconds, ours takes over a minute. I don’t even want to think about how bad that might be. Anyway, we’ve been considering getting a microwave for a while but never made the purchase, despite seeing many (at Wal-Mart, Home Depot, FutureShop). The price was right, our cart was empty, so why the hell not?
Wait .. it gets better.
A few months ago, husband saw a Barbie Doll in a pink VW beetle. He thought about buying it for her birthday or Christmas. Needless to say, he was delighted when it was still there for sale, a little bit cheaper than he’d seen previously. Her birthday is this weekend, so of course, he put it in the cart. (Did I mention we just went to Toys ‘r’ Us and bought her a few presents?) Honestly though, she’s been asking for Barbie for about a year and we always play the “purple punch buggy, no punchbacks!” game, so of course it was a no-brainer.
Don’t worry, I am not going to give you a blow-by-blow of what we got. Instead, a picture (or three!)
Ah… Costco.
